An emotionally intelligent, highly experienced successful leader, Geordan was a vital component of Leicester Tigers’ dominance of English and European Rugby in the 2000s. Geordan’s 23 year association with the club as a player, Captain and Director of Rugby led him to becoming the most decorated individual in Premiership rugby history. He won 8 Premierships and 3 domestic cup competitions with Leicester between 1998 & 2013. He also won back to back European Cups in 2001 and 2002, scoring a try in the second final which meant Leicester became the first team to win the most competitive club competition in club rugby in consecutive years.
In addition to his unparalleled domestic success, He won a 6 nations grand slam with Ireland in 2009 and won 72 caps for his country during which time he played in 2 World Cups. He represented the British and Irish Lions in 2005, during their tour of New Zealand. The unique experience as a Lion, only afforded to the elite of rugby players in the British Isles every 4 years, provided insight in the challenge of forming high preforming teams from differing backgrounds and Values within a short period of time.
Through working with elite performers in different environments and learning and learning from the successes and challenges of his career in rugby over more than 20 years. Geordan has developed a deep understanding of what it takes to create and maintain a high performance environment that has credibility and longevity and, in doing so how to build a winning culture.
This, coupled with Geordan’s experience of managing the unique challenges of running an organisation during the current global pandemic, sees him as a highly credible and sought after advisor for anyone looking to create resilient, psychologically safe and successful working environments in any professional area. He is passionate about using his experience to help others succeed in their chosen field of play.
More recently, in 2020 she was appointed by Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, as the Chair of Greater Manchester’s Young Person’s Task Force. Diane led the Task Force’s engagement with young people as part of the Covid-19 recovery process. And in May 2021 Diane joined the Commonwealth Games England Sport Committee of the Board in the role as Chair.
Among her many activities she has also written her autobiography, ‘The Diane Modahl Story: Going the Distance’; appeared in the Celebrity TV Series ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here’; and she is a regular broadcaster on BBC TV & Radio.
