Cath Bishop

Dr Cath Bishop is a triple Olympian, former British diplomat, leadership and culture coach. Cath is the author of an acclaimed book about how we define success in sport, business, education and life: ‘The Long Win’, one of the FT’s top 10 Business books of 2020 and Daily Mail’s best sports books of 2020 – a revised edition will be published in May 2024.

Cath competed in rowing at 3 Olympic Games, winning World Championships gold in 2003 and Olympic silver in Athens 2004. As a diplomat for the British Foreign Office for 12 years, Cath specialized in policy and negotiations on conflict issues, with postings to Bosnia and Iraq.

Cath now works as a speaker alongside her work as a leadership and culture coach, facilitator and author. She works with leaders across sport, business and education to develop high performing teams, resilient and inclusive environments and sustainable performance cultures where people can thrive and do their best work.  Her approach is one that both challenges and supports leaders to think differently, to trust and to adopt a human-centred approach.

Cath speaks at events globally on topics of leadership, performance and cultural change in business, sport and education.  Cath teaches on topics of leadership and culture on Executive Education programmes at the Judge Business School.  Cath writes regularly on topics relating to culture in sport for The Guardian, acts as an Independent Advisor on the Oversight Board for cultural reform at British Gymnastics and is a Trustee and Ambassador of Love Rowing, British Rowing’s charitable foundation that raises funds for projects to increase access to rowing, and is an advisor to The True Athlete Project.  Cath is a Steward of Henley Royal Regatta and Honorary Fellow of Pembroke College, Cambridge.
